Republican candidate Donald Trump has called on his supporters to stop using Alphabet’s Google search engine.

Something is wrong with Google. Maybe people should stay away from Google and stop using it,” Trump said in a conversation with YouTube streamer Adin Ross.

According to Bloomberg, the former US president is alluding to statements by billionaire Elon Musk and others that Google is interfering in efforts to find information about Mr. Trump.

Previously, Mr. Musk accused Google of “banning searches” about former President Donald Trump. The Tesla CEO shared an image showing that the search engine’s autocorrect function suggested the keyword “donald duck” when users typed in the phrase “president donald.

Donald Trump Jr., the former president’s son, made a similar statement when he shared an image on X that allegedly displayed a Google search box with autocomplete options for queries about assassinations that did not mention Trump.

Google has been a constant mention of Trump in recent days. Last week, in an interview with Fox Business, the former president said that “Google is going to shut down because I don’t think Congress will accept them.”

Currently, recent national polls show Harris ahead of Trump in the race for the White House, but polls in battleground states predict a more complex picture.
