The banana clicking game is causing a fever

The banana clicking game is causing a fever

Called Banana clicking (banana), this free game is available on Steam by Sky publisher.

This is the whole game, only the number above is the change.

The gaming world always has ridiculous exceptions, when crowd effects and curiosity blow away all conventional logic. And in the summer months of 2024, a new example has emerged with the name Banana.

Banana is more like a joke created by a group of friends than a game created with a clear purpose in mind. The game’s graphics… bananas literally. All you have is a monotonous backdrop, put on it a yellow banana that can be seen anywhere.

Banana’s gameplay is even simpler. Players only need to click on the banana shape and the system will count how many times they have clicked. To reward players for repeating a boring action, Banana will randomly give them different types of bananas. Some bananas have a special color, others are pasted with famous memes such as the shiba dog.

To make the game more “serious”, Banana allows players to sell these bananas as virtual items to other players, similar to rare weapon skins in Counter-Strike 2.

The ridiculous thing here is that some bananas are sold at exorbitant prices. Some rare bananas such as the Special Golden Banana (special golden banana) were shouted at by the owner for 1.3 million USD, of course, whether there are buyers is unknown

.

A special golden banana in the game was even shouted at a price of up to $1.3 million.

Banana was launched at the end of April, but according to SteamDB statistics, the game only started to have a spike in the number of new players in mid-May. By the beginning of June, more than 46,000 players had touched that virtual banana at the same time.

That’s really a huge number for any game on Steam. The number of concurrent players for Banana is continuing to grow and shows no signs of stopping.

According to statistics on the afternoon of June 19, Banana has accumulated more than 127 million hours of play and the peak attracted up to 862,508 players at the same time. This makes it the 2nd most popular game on Steam at the moment, behind only Valve’s Counter-Strike 2.

The Banana game is in the top of the most played games at the same time on Steam.

Banana’s unexpected success is like a knife slash straight into the hearts of professional game developers who have spent years working and studying, creating products with passion and sweat that no one cares about.

However, phenomena like Banana will soon fade away, no one is patient and free enough to play such a boring game day after day. The success of this game is mainly because most players see it as a joke, plus the psychology of the crowd is curious to experience a game that is trending and free.
