In a recent interview, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared about the company’s latest augmented reality (AR) glasses prototype, which is scheduled to launch this fall. He said the early testers were excited about the product.
Sharing with YouTuber Kallaway, the Meta CEO said that everyone who has experienced the company’s new AR glasses prototype has had a positive reaction. He was excited: “Their reaction has been overwhelming. I’m really looking forward to recommending it to even more people.” According to information from Business Insider, Meta may launch the first version of “real” AR glasses, a project codenamed Orion, in the fall of this year, at the company’s annual Connect event.
Although the commercial product is not expected to be launched in the near future, the introduction of this cutting-edge technology can create apay attention to Meta’s continued investment in this area. Zuckerberg added: “We’re focusing on building a complete version for consumers rather than selling prototypes.”
He also revealed that the prototype is “not the most stylish”, with the frame possibly thicker to accommodate AR technology. However, he confirmed to users that it is “unmistakably glasses” and not headphones, like Meta Quest or Apple Vision Pro. Meta CTO – Andrew Bosworth, the head of Reality Labs, said last year that the upcoming AR glasses could be “the most advanced technology on the planet in the world.”its territory.”
Zuckerberg said that since the demand for Meta Ray-Bans — products that integrate cameras and AI but no display — has exceeded expectations, The company is focusing on integrating as much AR technology as possible while maintaining the best look for the modern glass line. This CEO shared “In the past, I thought we needed holograms to create a presence. But AI has made big leaps n to the extent that I think […] even a simpler product would be more appealing.”
For years, Meta has poured billions of dollars into its Reality Labs division, which is responsible for developing cutting-edge products, including VR and AR wearables as well as metaverse software. However, Zuckerberg also noted that it will take years to start making significant profits from this business.
