Apple’s breakthrough iPhone could be very expensive

The ultra-thin iPhone 17 model of 2025 may be the most expensive, but the configuration is only on par with the standard model.

On the social network Weibo, rumor expert Ice Universe shared the configuration table of the iPhone 17, a smartphone line expected to be launched by Apple in 2025.

The devices that appear in the rumors include the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max and an ultra-thin version, temporarily called the iPhone 17 Slim. According to BGR, this is said to be a replacement for the iPhone Plus with a completely new design.

First, the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro are expected to have a 6.3-inch screen. As for the iPhone 16, rumors say that the new size is only for the iPhone 16 Pro, while the standard model still uses the same 6.1-inch screen as the iPhone 15.

Not only increasing the size, the standard iPhone 17 will use an LTPO screen panel, which is only available for the iPhone Pro. This means that the device can support a 120 Hz refresh rate and always-on mode. Display supply chain analyst Ross Young once mentioned this in detail.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to have a 6.9-inch screen, while the iPhone 17 Slim is 6.65 inches.

The selling price of the devices may remain unchanged, starting at $800 (iPhone 17), $1,100 (iPhone 17 Pro) and $1,200 (iPhone 17 Pro Max). The iPhone 17 Slim alone costs $1,300.

If the rumors are correct, the iPhone 17 Slim will be Apple’s most expensive smartphone. Despite the expensive price and ultra-thin size, the product specifications may only be on par with the standard model with an A19 processor chip, 8 GB of RAM and 2 rear cameras.

According to MacRumors‘ speculation, the specifications of the iPhone 17 Slim may not be accurate, because many people base the assumption that this is a replacement for the iPhone Plus.

On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Pro duo will be equipped with 12 GB of RAM, the A19 Pro chip based on TSMC’s N3P production process, 3 48 MP rear cameras.

Not only iPhone 17, Ice Universe also revealed information about the 4th generation iPhone SE. The device is expected to be equipped with Face ID and a USB-C port, which is a big change from the Touch ID fingerprint sensor and Lightning port on its predecessor.

The screen size of the iPhone SE 4 can be increased from 4.7 to 6.06 inches, using an OLED panel for the first time. The product will be as powerful as the iPhone 16 with the A18 chip, 6-8 GB of RAM, an aluminum frame and a 48 MP rear camera.

Previously, rumors said that the iPhone SE 4 had the exact same appearance as the standard iPhone 16. The device is expected to hit shelves in mid-2025 for $500-550.
