Apple temporarily postpones the second-generation Vision Pro upgrade, focusing on the low-cost version

This move is seen as a sign that demand for Apple’s virtual reality glasses is lower than expected. Is this a wrong move by the “Tech Giant”?

According to a source from The Information, Apple has notified at least one supplier of the suspension of development of the next version of the virtual reality glasses This decision is said to come from the dismal sales of the product after half a year of launch. A source from The Information added that an unnamed employee at a “manufacturer of critical components for Vision Pro” confirmed the information.

Despite many concerns, Apple is still in the early stages of its Vision Pro development plan. to countries other than the US, including China, Japan, Australia, Canada, and France. Besides, a free software update i many new features such as 3D photo conversion and easier to use hand gestures will be launched this fall.

Apple temporarily postponed the second-generation Vision Pro upgrade, focusing on the low-cost version - Photo 1.

However, many experts said that the Vision Pro’s “sluggishness” was something that had been predicted in advance. Since its launch in February, despite being highly appreciated by experts, the price of $3,499 has made the Vision Pro a luxury device, especially when compared to competitors such as the Meta Quest 3 (which costs only $500).

Vision Pro feels like an iOS device integrated in the form of virtual reality glasses, opening up a whole new direction.” CNET editor Scott Stein commented after the launch of Vision Pro. According to him, Meta’s device offers many of the same features, although the design is less sophisticated. “The Quest 3 is still the most affordable choice for the experience m virtual reality,” Stein added.

Focusing on the low-cost segment seems to be the more positive direction for Apple at the moment. The Information said that the company will continue to develop the low-cost Vision product line with fewer features, which is expected to be launched next year. Currently, Apple has not responded to this information.

In addition, the “Apple House” will also launch a new generation artificial intelligence service called Apple Intelligence this fall. According to Apple, The new service will be compatible with many Mac, iPad and iPhone 15 Pro computers (launched last year with prices starting at $999). Apple Intelligence is designed to assist users in their daily lives, such as summarizing text messages, Supports composing emails and connecting data between applications.
